Syngas Treatment

ERG’s experience of cleaning syngas from wood, RDF and waste plastics gasification relates to

quenching and cooling the syngas to reduce the temperature and remove water vapour
removing tars from the syngas using V-tex^® technology
scrubbing ammonia or acid gases (principally H₂S and HCl)

The wet gas cleaning package is designed to condition the syngas to make it suitable for use in a compressor or gas engine, bringing contaminant, water content, and temperature within the acceptable range for reliable operation. The wet abatement package is also required to remove the gaseous contaminants which result in non-compliant emissions of HCl, SO₂, and NOx post combustion.

We can also assist with the specification and supply of upstream high temperature solids removal and oily effluent treatment.

Syngas cleaning packages are complex and their correct design is integral to the plant cost model, layout, control, safety systems, and operating availability. ERG can frequently assist with the package design as part of a FEED and then in the subsequent supply of a robust and effective gas cleaning package.
